2 Book Recommendations for Leadership Excellence

Looking for a unique gift for a fellow colleague this holiday season? Today we revisit two segments featuring two wonderful leadership books. Each of these books comes highly recommended and is a valuable asset for any leader to have in their possession.

In the first segment, Chris Van Gorder, president and CEO of Scripps Health and author of The Front-Line Leader, discusses three themes featured in his book:

  • Get out of the office
  • Take care of your people
  • Hold people accountable

The Front-Line Leader is a great read and an excellent resource for all leaders!

In the second segment, Traci Bernard, president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southlake, recommends the book Wooden on Leadership by coach John Wooden. Bernard explains,

“I just really can embrace the philosophy and how he led his teams and made his players a success. And I think to me what speaks so highly of him is this many years later—and even after he’s gone—what his players will say about him. His players will give him credit for the men they are today. And to me, that’s the best compliment somebody can give somebody, is to say, ‘My relationship with you made me a better person.'”

Both of these books are excellent resources for those striving to become better leaders. To view the full segments and hear more about each book, click above.
