What characteristics will set you up for success? In today’s segments, Eric Barber, president and CEO of Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings Nebraska, discusses the specific characteristics he looks for when hiring and promoting within his organization.
In the first segment Barber lists three critical characteristics for achieving success. These are applicable to individuals in any organization:
- Passionate
- Self Motivated
- Willing to Follow Specific Guidelines and Directions
In the second segment, Dan Nielsen poses the question, “What is the one characteristic you would name that a person must have to be promoted and do very well in your organization?” Of the above characteristics, Barber focuses on “self-motivated” as the most critical for someone in his organization who wishes to do well and be promoted.
Barber concludes:
“If they are self motivated and they are passionate about what we are doing, then I can empower them and give them some guidance that doesn’t have to be too strict, because they share a common goal and common vision with the organization.”
