When Allison is asked about the 5 most impactful decisions he has made over the course of his career, he identifies and elaborates on the following:
- His choice of Hendrick Medical Center for his administrative residency, serving under Mr. Boone Powell, Jr.
- Attending the Advanced Management Practice Program at Harvard.
- The Baylor choice in 2000 to put a focus on quality and making it a priority.
- Starting the Health Texas Provider Network.
- The merger of Baylor Health Care system and Scott & White Health.
In the second segment, Allison discusses the success of the Baylor Scott & White merger, bringing up the importance of a compatible culture in situations like this. Before the merger happened, a cultural audit was performed to make sure each organization had a similar mission, vision, and values, and Allison points to that decision as a key part of the merger’s success.
