Effective leadership is such a great benefit to any organization. While great leadership doesn’t necessarily guarantee success, the correlation between the two is present more often than not. In today’s featured segments, two healthcare executives discuss the leadership within their organization, as well as the results of this leadership.
In the first segment, Dan Nielsen begins by asking Al Cornish, CLO at Norton Healthcare, “What does the ‘Norton Way’ mean?”
Cornish begins by discussing the importance of set standards in leadership, stating:
“It is so important that we have standards and expectations of our leaders so that they are able to lead the way that we want them to lead. Because we are a market leader in this community and want to remain a market leader, and in order to do that we need our leaders to behave in a certain manner.”
Nielsen and Cornish take the opportunity to discuss leadership and the need to be consistent with how you lead. Consistency is key to staying above reproach.
In the second video Mary Ellen Doyle, Corporate VP of Nursing Operations at Scripps Health, describes Scripps president and CEO Chris Van Gorder’s top 3 leadership strengths. Chris Van Gorder leads a remarkable organization and his strengths positively affect the organization by encouraging connections and building trust.
