Mark Dixon: “Patients are the Reason We Exist”

This week we continue the interview with Mark Dixon, president of The Mark Dixon Group, LLC. Dan Nielsen begins the interview by asking about 13 critical points that Dixon had previously shared that have been used to guide his career. Dixon discusses the first two points in today’s segments.

In the first video segment, Dixon discusses the first point:

“Patients are the reason we exist, people are the reason we excel, and systems are there to support the work.”

Simply put, healthcare exists for the patient. Dixon explores and expands on this critical aspect of healthcare leadership, explaining each component in the above statement.

In the second segment, Dixon discusses patient safety and the importance of continually making steps to improve this area. Addressing healthcare leaders, he says:

“You and only you are responsible for making patients’ healthcare experience safe, simple, and effective.”
