“We all get along, we all care about each other. There is mutual respect. Everybody treats each other as an equal part of the team, creating that success.”
She goes on to give her team all the credit for that success:
“I am a firm believer that none of us are a success alone. It definitely takes a strong team. I wish everybody could meet the other leaders of my organization, which are the employees and the people who make it happen every day, because they make us look good.”
When asked what she looks for in new team members, Bernard emphasized the all-important culture fit she looks for:
“Skill can be taught. So I’m interested in passion. I’m interested in an understanding of who we are—so somebody who’s done their research and understands our culture, because a culture fit is very important to me. And somebody, especially in healthcare, who is very compassionate and caring, and who puts the team first.”
