In today’s segments, we see two leaders’ perspectives on healthcare. Healthcare has witnessed a drastic amount of change in the last few years, and many leaders are being faced with different challenges as they embrace these changes and do what is best for their organizations.
In the first segment, Traci Bernard, president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southlake, discusses the changes she has witnessed in healthcare and what this means to her:
“I’ve seen healthcare evolve. We’ve gone through so many changes and we’ve taken risks and it’s been challenging—but we’ve always ended up providing a better experience for the people that we serve.”
Bernard reinforces that the change is good as long as healthcare continues to evolve in a way that keeps patients at the center.
In the second segment, Mary Ellen Doyle, Corporate VP of Nursing Operations at Scripps Health, echoes Traci Bernard:
“Today one of the things that I enjoy most is where healthcare is going. It’s hard work, but for the first time ever I really see that we are ultimately, I believe, going to end up with a delivery system that is going to be designed for the patient.”
Each of these leaders understands the purpose of healthcare is to serve the patient. While change may be difficult, if the end goal is better care and service to the patient, it is worth it.
