This week we are pleased to begin featuring segments from an AHL-exclusive interview with Mary Ellen Doyle, Corporate Vice President for Nursing Operations at Scripps Health. Doyle has been with Scripps Health since 2008, and in her current role since 2011.
Today we’d like to share 3 brief segments from the excellent hour-long interview conducted by AHL founder and CEO Dan Nielsen. In these segments Doyle describes her role at Scripps, how she came to be there, what she’s learned, and what she loves about the organization.
“When I came into this position it was actually right after the Affordable Care Act was enacted. And as an organization we declared, ‘We are going to be proactive in this, and we need to start transforming the organization.’ I had actually never been in a role where we were about transforming… [so the question was], ‘What did I learn in the past that’s going to help me in the future, and what have I learned in the past that I need to let go of—that’s irrelevant, or may actually be to my detriment for the future as we transform the environment?'”
