Mark Dixon on Collaboration

Today’s featured video segment continues the interview with Mark Dixon, president of The Mark Dixon Group, LLC. Thanks to his extensive experience in the healthcare industry, Dixon is able to share critical insights with healthcare leaders, and in today’s segment he discusses collaboration—a very important topic in the industry today.

At the beginning of the interview, AHL founder and CEO Dan Nielsen asks Dixon to discuss collaboration and the role it plays in what he does. Dixon responds by discussing a population health collaborative he has been a part of that brings 18-20 healthcare systems together, and describes it as being a place for people to come together to learn from each other.

“What I like about learning collaboratives… is people don’t come with their bragging newspapers to brag about all the wonderful things they’ve done. People come to learn. People come to share the good, the bad, and the ugly, and all the things that they are working on.”

Dixon continus on to discuss why these collaboratives are necessary and how they benefit the individuals and organizations that take a part in them, on both the provider and supplier sides. Dixon hopes that through these collaborative efforts he can help to “simplify the complex” for his clients.
