These interview segments were originally posted in January of 2017, but they are full of great advice and worth revisiting. In today’s featured segments, Mark Solazzo, EVP and COO for Northwell Health, offers advice in two different areas: work-life balance and habits for success.
Like many leaders interviewed for America’s Healthcare Leaders, Solazzo recognizes the importance of work-life balance and encourages the young leaders with whom he works to find this balance in their own lives as well.
In the first segment, Solazzo remarks, “balance is a constant struggle,” but “family always comes first.” Know your priorities and commit your time and energy to the things that top your list. AHL founder & CEO Dan Nielsen puts it this way: “have intent and carry through with that intent.”
We are, as Nielsen puts it, “slaves to our habits,” which is why it is so critical to pay attention to the habits we have created. In the second segment, Solazzo gives 3 habits for greater success:
- Having a strong work ethic and always wanting better for your children.
- Never being satisfied with the status quo, always asking, “How can we make it better?”
- Posessing curiosity, always asking, “Why?”
