Great leaders understand the importance of having a solid foundation and how this daily influences their ability to lead well and truly impact those around them. In today’s segments we hear from two leaders on this subject: Mary Ellen Doyle, Corporate VP of Nursing Operations at Scripps Health, and Geoff Brenner, president and CEO of TPC.
In the first segment, Doyle emphasizes her firm belief in having a solid foundation to which you can always return:
“Why I think that’s important is under times of stress and where we are now, you have to have something to go back to. If you can have something to go back to, and you’re solid, then everything else is noise around you.”
In the next segment, Brenner reinforces this by talking about how critical it is for leaders to daily live out and demonstrate core values in order for those values to cascade throughout the organization:
“It won’t be enough for me to stand up in an all-employee meeting once every month or two weeks and tell them what values we should embrace and live. What I have to do every day, the best I can, is live it in front of the team that works and reports to me every day.”
