The Importance of Engaging with Patients

It’s a simple concept that often gets overlooked, but healthcare exists for the patient. Healthcare is a service-based industry, and as such, it is critically important to engage with patients. Each individual who walks through the doors of your organization is there for a reason. Get to know the people you serve!

In today’s interview segment, Dan Neufelder, founder & CEO of the Neufelder Consulting Group, discusses why engaging with patients is so necessary within healthcare. He discusses three levels of engagement within healthcare when you are a top executive: engagement with associates, engagement with physicians, and the often overlooked engagement with the patient.

Neufelder comments:

“It’s a sense of empathy that a physician has with the patient that makes the difference.”

The goal of healthcare should be to inspire the patient to desire their own best health and then empower them to do the things to make a difference in their lives.
